EDUCATION'S DEATH VALLEY (KEN ROBINSON)

Diversity, curiosity and creativity, these are the three principles on which human life flourishes, according to Ken Robinson.

Our English teacher assigned us a video watching where Ken Robinson talks about education. He starts introducing the American legislation “No child left behind” and says it’s ironic because million of children are left behind by US education system. A very high percentage of children drop out in their high school years because they are unsatisfied. Mr Robinson says school doesn’t help children increase their creativity and curiosity and that’s also because of children’s diversity. Here’s the video we worked!

Hope you like the video as I do even though what he says it’s hard to reach. Being a teacher is not easy. They have to teach to many different people every day and they have to deal with this diversity. Each student has a different learning style and it isn’t fair to teach them in the same way. The three principles which Mr Robinson talks about are idealistic and precious but the reality of teaching children or teenagers is quite different. Teachers have such a hard time while coping at the same time with the diversity and needs of their many students.

Anyway, we are all different and we need different education based on what we like. I know teachers do their best to make our talents flourish but sometimes it is not enough and many children are not satisfied so they quit school.

How would you apply the three principles if you were a teacher?
Let us know in the comments what you think about it!
