READING THE NEWSPAPERS

Teenagers usually don’t like reading the newspaper - or reading in general -  but if you want to enrich your vocabulary reading is very useful. We tried this activity in pairs during one of our recent lessons: our teacher brought real English newspapers and we leafed through the pages in search of interesting news or curiosities. Our task was writing down a summary of the article giving the reasons why we had chosen it . It was quite useful and here are the results of our work in pairs.

WHAT IS IT?

MySpace can be considered   YouTube’s ancestor. Before YouTube, ,Facebook and Twitter, MySpace was the social network par excellence. Thanks to this social, a lot of present-day artists became famous; for example Mika, Adele, Lilly Allen put their songs on this site. But after a great period of success the popularity of MySpace started declining.

Why am I talking you about Ben Stiller? Because he's cool, funny, hilarious! 

Ben Stiller is an American actor, filmaker and comedian. He picked up an interest in being on the other side of the camera and he began shooting movies  with his Super 8 camera. The plots of his films are always simple and comical.   

WE LOVE JENNIFER ANISTON

We think she is one of the most beautiful and famous actresses all over the world and we truly admire her. Don’t you?   JENNIFER ANISTON is simply amazing.

She was born in California but she has Greek origins. In February she  celebrated her 48th birthday.

She seems she never ages, doesn’t she?

VASCO ROSSI

Vasco Rossi was born on February 7, 1952 in Zocca. His parents are Carlo and Novella. His father was a truck-driver. Vasco is an Italian singer-songwriter and his nickname is Blasco. During his career he has published 23 albums and has written some 250 songs, also for other artists.

Vasco Rossi fell in love with music at the age of 14.

The Simpsons are a cult cartoon series popular all over the world. The Simpsons  were  created by cartoonist Matt Groening U.S. at the end of the 80s for the Fox Broadcasting Company. Set in a fictional town called Springfield, the show is humorous in many aspects of the human condition; it is a satirical parody of society and the American lifestyle epitomized by its protagonist family, which consists of Homer, Marge and their three children Bart, Lisa and Maggie.
