OUR TOP 10 TV SERIES

We like watching TV series. We watch them for fun or escapism but,  sometimes,  we also watch them in the original language with subtitles to improve our English.  Today we want to share with you our top ten favourite series.

10. How I met your mother

The series follows the main character, Ted Mosby, and his group of friends in Manhattan. As a framing device, Ted, in the year 2030, recounts to his son and daughter the events that led him to meeting their mother.

9. Skins

Skins is a British teen comedy drama that follow the lives of a group of teenagers in Bristol. Its controversial storylines have explored issues such as dysfunctional families, mental illness, adolescent sexuality, death and bullying.

8. Breaking Bad

It tells the story of Walter White, a struggling high school chemistry teacher diagnosed with inoperable lung cancer. Together with his former student Jesse, white turns to a life of crime, producing and selling crystallized methamphetamine to secure his family’s financial future before he dies.

7. Pretty Little Liars

It is an American teen drama. The series follows the lives of four girls, Aria, Hanna, Spencer and Emily, whose clique falls apart after the disappearance of their leader, Alison Di Laurentis. One year later, the friends are reunited and they begin to receive messages from a mysterious figure named “A”, who knows their deepest secrets.

6. The Big Bang Theory

The series is centered on physicists Sheldon Cooper and Leonard Hofstadter, whose geeky and introverted lives are changed when Penny, an attractive waitress and an aspiring actress, moves into the apartment next door.

While a civil war brews between several noble families in Westeros, the children of the former rulers of the land attempt to rise to power.

4. Grey’s Anatomy

It is an American medical drama series. It focuses on the fictional lives of surgical interns, residents and attendings as they gradually evolve into seasoned doctors, while trying to maintain personal lives and relationship.

3. Gossip Girl

Gossip Girl, a mysterious blogger, reveals secrets about the lives of privileged teenagers on the Upper East Side. Serena Van Der Woodsen is a blonde and beautiful socialite. Everyone knows Serena. Blair Waldorf is Serena’s best friend and she is the “queen bee of Constance Saint Jude”. Nate Archibald is Blair’ boyfriend. Chuck Bass is a rich and arrogant person. Dan Humprey is a loney boy from Brooklyn.

2. The Walking Dead

It is an American horror drama television series. Andrew Lincoln plays the show’s lead character, sheriff’s deputy Rick Grimes, who awakens from a coma discovering a world overrun by zombies, commonly referred to as “walkers”.

1. Romanzo Criminale – La serie

It is an Italian television series. The series is loosely based  on the story of the Banda della Magliana, a criminal organization active in Rome between the late 1970s and the early 1990s. Most of the characters use the Romanesco dialect. The gang is led by three friends, Libanese, Freddo and Dandi.
