13 REASONS WHY IS BACK

You've perfectly understood that I love watching tv series. Today I'm gonna talk about one of the most significant tv series I've ever seen. I'm talking about 13 Reasons Why. It's an American teen drama tv series directed by Brian Yorkey who provoked great discussion last year when it came out on Netflix. It may be tough to watch and it is suggested for an audience of +14.
If you have not seen it,  you can’t miss it, I'm sure you’ll find it thought-provoking and captivating.  So, as soon as you have some free time,  watch it!
Before reading on, I’d suggest you to take a look at one of our old posts about this series (CLICK HERE) if you want to know more about its characters.

THE PLOT

This tv series is based on the story of Hannah Baker, a sophomore at Liberty High School, who decides to commit a suicide because of a series of bad experiences.
Before she kills herself, she records 13 tapes where she talked about the 13 reasons why she killed herself.
In each tape she mentions a person who is responsible to let her down. These 13 guys at Liberty High School are somehow guilty of her tragic decision. Basically the main responsible is actually Liberty High School itself.

The second season has just been released on Netflix and it focuses on the trial:  Hannah's mother against Liberty High School!
Like season 1, also the second season is made up of 13 episodes, and in each of them all the teens and adults involved in Hannah's suicide are called to testify.
If the main interest in the first season were the tapes, the recurrent items in the second season are polaroids. In some of the episodes Clay, one of the main characters , finds some polaroids which will help to clarify some aspects of Hannah’s  story which are unknown and … unexptected!

MAIN THEMES

Betrayal, false friends and bullying

In this tv series we can see several cases of betrayal and aggressive behaviours. Some of Hannah's friends betrayed her, spreading false rumors about her. Many students at Liberty High School are bullied and Hannah was one of them. No one is actually innocent and safe from blame!

Reputation

One of the main reasons Hannah decides to commit a suicide is because of her reputation. Because of the gossip and rumors she is seen by others as a '' slut  '' though she is not.
It is also one of the main themes in the second season. During the trial, several guys lie to the jury just to keep their reputation safe.

Revenge

Hannah  records the tapes also to take her revenge. She wants to tell everyone what other people did to her.
Even if she's dead She wants other people to know her story and why she decided to kill herself.

Let me know if you've seen this tv series and, obviously,  what  you think about it!
