IN THEATRES IN FEBRUARY 2023, 5 MOVIES YOU CAN'T MISS!

It is a very rich February for cinema lovers, which brings to the our theatres many films directed by great directors, from Shyamalan to Soderbergh, from Aronofsky to McDonagh. Thrillers, love stories, unusual comedies, new chapters with Marvel superheroes… Here are 5 films released in February 2023.

1.      Broker

Hirokazu Kore-Eda has written and directed a huge number of beautifully human films but Broker may be the most interesting. It is set in South Korea and its "ingenious" protagonist, Song Kang-ho, is the owner of a laundromat with a shocking activity for the community: he takes children from a church "baby box", a trapdoor where people can leave unwanted children, and then sells those children to would-be adoptive parents. However, police detectives are watching and monitoring his movements and activities. As dark as this premise sounds, Broker becomes a funny, big-hearted road movie about a group of loners who become a family.

2.      Magic Mike's Last Dance

This splendid film, directed by Steven Soderbergh is inspired to a real stage show, Magic Mike Live London, written by Channing Tatum in 2018. It is a musical comedy and the protagonist, Channing Tatum, reprises the role of the stripper dancer Mike Lane.

After a long break and after collecting so many debts, which left him broke and forced him to work as a bartender in Florida clubs, the time has come for Mike Lane to return to the stage. Hoping to attend what he considers the last show of his career, Mike heads to London with a rich woman, newcomer Hayek Pinault, who lures him with an offer he can't refuse...

 3.      Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantummania

The third film in the Ant-man saga directed by Peyton Reed, deals with this new superhero in the Marvel World and with this film a lot changes compared to the  two previous films. Instead of a lighthearted comedy confined to San Francisco, they have crafted an epic and extraordinary adventure that will push our heroes beyond the limits of what they thought was possible in a microscopic universe, the Quantum realm, ruled by the time traveller Kang the Conqueror (Jonathan Majors). This is only the first of the Marvel films that will be released this year and we will certainly talk about the upcoming new ones in the future.

 4.      Knock on the booth

If American cinema has taught us anything, it's that going on vacation to a cabin in the woods has always been a very bad idea. In this film, which hovers between thriller and horror, released on February 1st, the people who meet in an isolated cabin are a girl (Kristen Cui) and her parents (Jonathan Groff and Ben Aldridge). Four strangers (Dave Bautista, Rupert Grint, Nikki Amuka-Bird, Abby Quinn) show up at their door and say a family member must be sacrificed or else the human race will be wiped out. And who would you sacrifice from your family to save the whole world? Impossible choices to make.

5.      Your place or mine

This film which is a rom-com, was released just in time for Valentine's Day stars Debbie and Peter (Reese Witherspoon and Ashton Kutcher) are two longtime best friends. She lives in New York and he lives in Los Angeles, but when they swap houses for a week so she can take a vacation while he babysits her son, they discover aspects of their lives that could open the  doors to love.
