"TOGETHER, WE'LL BUILD IT AGAIN” - A FANTASY TALE OF ST. BENEDICT AND HIS SISTER, ST. SCHOLASTICA.

This story is part of a project we did at school after studying the importance of monasteries in the middle ages, the rule of St Benedict and monastic life, including the history of the Benedectine monasteries we have in our hometown, Subiaco. Divided in groups, one of our tasks was to write a story in English about monastic life,  set in the past, present or future,  with fantasy elements of our choice.

The following story was written by Lucrezia Pelliccia with the help of Valerio Carpentieri, Marco Tozzi and Federico Mosetti. The illustrations were drawn by Lucrezia herself. The story is set in the past, the protagonists are Benedict and his sister Scholastica. It features demons, angels and dragons and ... we really hope you'll enjoy reading it!

A CATASTROPHIC, POST APOCALYPTIC TALE

This story is part of a project we did at school after studying the importance of monasteries in the middle ages, the rule of St Benedict and monastic life, including the history of the Benedectine monasteries we have in our hometown, Subiaco. Divided in groups, one of our tasks was to write a story in English about monastic life,  set in the past, present or future,  with fantasy elements of our choice.

The following story was written by Francesco Elviretti with the help of Sophia Corsini, Isabel Baiocchi,  Danylo Valleri and Federico Mosetti. It is set in a post apolyptic future,  the protagonists are Benedictine monks,  who were among the few survivors to a nuclear explosion. They have been turned into warriors with very little patience who have to cope with the stubborness of nuns. Scroll down and enjoy reading!

A SPECIAL LESSON AT ST. SCHOLASTICA'S MONASTERY

Hi guys! In today’s post  we would like to share some interesting moments from our special lesson at St. Scholastica’s Abbey
The monastery of Saint Scholastica is the most ancient benedectine monastery in the world. In particular, we visited the historic library where 20, 000 paper documents and 380 manuscripts,  written one by one by amanuensis,  are kept.
