The Golden Ball is a football award instituted in 1956 by a sport French magazine called France Football. Every year it is assigned to the best footballer who plays for an European club. To win this award you must be strong and you must win a competition with your team.
The first footballer who won it was the English Stanley Matthews. Messi is the footballer who has won more golden balls and Cristiano Ronaldo is the second. It has been won by these two players since 2008. In 2010 this award united with FIFA Player of the year until this year.
Ronaldo won the Golden Ball on 13 th December 2016 for the fourth time in his career. The winner was nominated by the magazine France Football and there were many critiques for this choice because the award ceremony wasn’t broadcast on tv.
In our opinion Ronaldo deserves this Golden Ball for the many competitions he has won this year and for his individual performances.
