RUGBY AND THE SIX NATIONS

Hi guys! Im Alessandro M. and today no football, ok? What about some rugby news?  I am going to tell you about the Six Nations Championship 2017. The Six Nations Championship is beginning on 6 February 2017 at the Stade de France.
The Six Nations Championship is a rugby tournament involving six European sides: England, France, Ireland, Italy, Scotland and Wales.

A bit of history

The Six Nations is the successor to the Home Nations Championship (18831909 and 193239),  played between teams from England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales, which was the first international rugby union tournament. With the addition of France, it became Five Nations Championship (191031 and 194799), which in turn became the Six Nations Championship with the addition of Italy.
Wales achieved the first two in a row in 1908 and 1909; England have done it three times,  in 1913 and 1914, 1923 and 1924 and 1991 and 1992, while France did it in 1997 and 1998. England hold the record for the number of Grand Slams won with 12, followed by Wales with 11, France with 9, Scotland with 3 and Ireland with 2. The last edition  of the Six Nations Championship was won by EnglandYes, but what about us??? Also us ( Italy ) have won a titleyes, even  thorugh not a very good one, the wooden spoon ;)

Let's discuss rugby and its popularity

In my opinion rugby is a beautiful sport and it is even better than football,  but now all the children wants to play football and become famous footballers, especially in Italy!

What do you think about rugby? Do you like it? In your opinion, why do children prefer football to rugby?

I'll be watching the Six Nations

My favourite team in the next Six Nations will be Italy, no matter what. I'm ready, I know they arent very good, no great expectations, then. Italians are great footballers,  but they have long way to go at rugby. Which team will you support, instead?

Now let's end with a spectacular video about the 2016 edition of the RBS Six Nations Championship.

ENJOY  WATCHING!
