The Italian football championship is one of the best leagues in Europe with Premier League, La Liga, Ligue 1 and Bundesliga. A few years ago, Serie A was the best championship in Europe with the best players in the world. Now, Italian football is not like before because other leagues like La Liga and Premier League have teams with money so they can afford to buy better players. The only team which is at the same level as the other big European teams is Juventus, indeed it's no coincidence if it won the last seven championships… But now Serie A, taking its time, is returning to the top.
That championship introduced a new method of refereeing, that has never been used before: the VAR technology.
VAR is the acronym “video assistant review” and is used by a team of three people who work together to review certain decisions made by the main referee during the match by watching video replays of the relevant incidents. Far from eliminating debate around referring decisions, however, the new system debut resulted in more discussion and controversy over officiating than would be expected as normal.

New Entries
Now let’s talk about the “new entries”: we saw for the first time in history the debut in the major championship from Benevento and the returns of Spal and Hellas Verona (last time Spal played in Serie A was in 1967-68 season! Wow!), but unfortunately the team from Campania has been relegated with Verona, better luck next time, guys!

Seven Titles in a Row
Instead, in the opposite side of the rank, we saw Juventus winning the title for the 7th time in a row: the only bad thing for Juventus’ fans is Buffon’s farewell in the lst match (against Verona). Unlike the last years, Juventus had to fight more than expected against an amazing Napoli for the title: we have to congratulate with both teams this year, because they simply played a fantastic way and they left us without breathing until the last minute, thank you!

What 's wrong with Milan?
Sadly, we also have teams that didn’t play as well as Juventus and Napoli… actually, they failed: we’re not talking about the relegated teams, we’re talking about Milan: they reinforced a lot in the transfer window, spending 228 millions of euros to buy new players, but they rarely arrived 6thin the end; we wouldn’t like to be a Milan supporter! Anyway, they qualified for the Europa League so it could have been worse!

And now... our favourite team!
So, we talked about Juventus, Napoli, Milan and other teams… but did you find out which team we support? Unless you are a wizard, probably not, because we did not talk about our favourite team: it’s Lazio!
The female team did a great season last year: Lazio arrived 5thon the rank and qualified for Europa league like Milan did. Unfortunately, Lazio during the season was in the 4thposition, and if they had remained in that position, they would have qualified for the Champions League, the major European championship (the second is Europa league): but Inter decided to steal from Lazio the 4thposition during the last match of the season; now you know why they called it “Pazza Inter”?

We certainly watched a crazy championship last year, and we had so much fun! Now, what about you? Which team do you support? What do you think about VAR? Is it useful or not? Don’t forget to leave your comments below and let us know your feedback. See you soon!
