This tournament began on November 20th and accompanied us for four long weeks when we witnessed spectacular action both on and off the pitch: just remember the great gesture of the Japanese fans who, before leaving after the game, cleaned up the whole stadium.
The final match, however, was one of the most beautiful and exciting ever. We saw two of the strongest teams in the world collide: Argentina and France.
The match started immediately in favour of
Argentina who earned a penalty in the 8th minute: Argentina’s captain and one of the strongest
number10s in the world, Lionel Messi, wrong-footed the opposing goalkeeper by
scoring the first goal of the match. The whole stadium caught fire and the
celebrations immediately began especially in Argentina where in Buenos Aires,
the capital, people were jumping, screaming and shouting with joy for this
great result. But it wasn't over yet, in fact after a few minutes Argentina
scored the second goal and it was thought that the match for France was over
until....
GOAAAAAL!!! The number 10 of France, Kylian Mbappé,
reopened the game by scoring two fantastic goals in 2 minutes. Nobody could
believe it and by now we could expect everything from this spectacular final.
After 8 minutes of added time the game ended
and extra time began where we were able to see another great show again: first
Argentina's goal, with Messi's brace, and then finally in the 118th minute
Mbappé's second fantastic penalty that wrong-footed the Argentinian goalkeeper.
The game is now over, everything will be
decided on penalties: I can only imagine all the people in Argentina and France
who were watching the game; it reminded me for a moment of the penalties in the
final of the European Championship before Italy won the tournament. The French
were the first to take penalties, scoring and moving ahead of Argentina, but
football has everything in store for us: two penalties missed by the French and
Argentina did nothing but score the last penalty to become champions of the
world.
The stadium exploded with joy, the whole of
Argentina began to celebrate this fantastic victory and brought some happiness
to the whole world where unfortunately there is little at the moment. The
celebrations went on for a couple of days and everyone is talking about this
victory but above all about the exciting match that kept billions of people on
edge and the feats of the two number 10s
who showed us that football is a spectacular sport and anything can happen at any time.
Now we all hope that in four years Italy too will be able to participate in the World Cup and who knows maybe even lift that spectacular cup.
