SUPERBOWL MANIA: NOT ONLY SPORT!

Have you seen the latest Super bowl halftime show? It was held a few days ago, on 13th February 2023.

From a strictly sports point of view, the Super Bowl is nothing more than the final of the NFL, the professional American football league, but it goes beyond that,  its not only sport, the Super Bowl is one of the most anticipated shows of the year,  especially for its famous halftime show which,   since the 90s,  has been hosting he most famous artists in the world, from Beyonce to Lady Gaga to U2,  who performed for about 20 minutes during the break of the match. It is one of the most watched televised event, the viewing figures are incredible!

Are the artists paid to perform?  Actually, the artists who decide to perform do not receive any compensation, as the exhibition itself is a source of income given that the online audience is around 100 million.  For example, in 2017 after the performance Lady Gaga reported an increase in sales of 1000%.  The one exception was made in 1993 when Michael Jackson performed, and this was seen as a transitional time as a solo artist had never performed before.

Now let's see some of the most unforgettable performances.

2013  was Beyonce's year. She presented a never-before-seen show with choreographed light shows and a spectacular singing performance, and also brought back the Destiny Child, the group   she had begun her career with.  She performed again in 2016 Super Bowl, that time with Coldplay and Bruno Mars.

2015 edition left its mark with  Katy Perrys  performance,  accompanied by awesome special effects, which  eventually became the most viewed edition ever with around 120 million spectators.

2020 is perhaps my favorite edition, with JLOs and Shakiras  performances.  This edition was quite controversial, since,  at that time, there was a fairly tense political climate and, therefore, the performance of two Latino artists undoubtedly raised awareness in the whole world.  This performance included amazing choreographies and popular special guests,  including rapper Bad Bunny.

2023 has been undoubtedly one of the most spectacular ever! Rihanna,  after a hiatus of almost seven years in her career, came back and led a sensational show.  The best parts were the choreography,  with 280 perfectly synchronized dancers, and  Rihannas  announcement of her second pregnancy.
