TIK TOK WORLD

Hi all guys, are you on Tik Tok? Yes? Not yet?  I love this app, which has become one of the most popular in the world in recent years, and I decided to write my new post about it.

 Tik Tok is a Chinese app created in 2014, which,  at first,  had a different name.  Only in 2018 it was renamed as Tik Tok, in order to increase the number of visitors and users.  In the following years it quickly achieved success, and now it has over a billion users.

 But how does it work?

 In the beginning this app was created to upload useful content for students to help them in different subjects, but later with the arrival of Musical.ly the most viral videos were lip-synch in which users pretended to sing a song added in the background.  After that, dances and coreographies were invented and posted by users who danced on the hit songs of the moment. That became a very successful trend in the social media world.

Today on Tik Tok we find videos of all kinds from comedy to comments on TV series or movies,  videos of famous people such as singers or actors or about sports and video games.   There are also very successful Tik Tokers who just talk about their daily life and, of course,  dances are still popular.

  

Who are the most viral TikTokers?

  

Khaby Lame with his 154 million followers is the most popular among Tik Tokers, he was born in Italy in 2000 and, in a very short time, he managed to achieve success thanks to his symbolical gestures while he reacted to some videos of a famous American channel, Five Minute Craft. 

In second place we find Charlie D'amelio with 150 million followers.  She was born in America in 2004,  she has a clothing brand with her sister and is a professional dancer.  She achieved success around 2019 when with TikTok boom she entered a house (Hype House) together with other Tik Tokers, with whom she made herself known and thanks to the vitality of her choreographies, she managed to reach the screens of so many people.  Around mid-2020 she left that house and returned to live with her family, who is also present on TikTok and later she moved in with her sister.

 

Finally, we find Addison Rae with 90 million followers.  She was born in America in 2000 and, around August 2019, she started posting her first videos.  Her success came at the same time as  Charlie D’Amelio, she too was part of the Hype House that she left at the beginning of 2020. Like Charlie,  she gained a lot of popularity thanks to her choreographies.  Addison has released a song (Obsessed), has starred in a Netflix series (He's All That), and last year she even attended the Met Gala.
