AROUND THE WORLD IN THE FOOTSTEPS OF SIR FRANCIS DRAKE

Sir Francis Drake was knighted by Queen Elizabeth I for being the second, after Magellan, to complete the world tour.  Francis Drake has always been the champion of great travellers because over the years his story has become myth, starting from the sixteenth century until today.

And today, as a lover of the world and all its beauties, I want to explore the world through 11 Places, 11 photos and 11 captions because there is a question I often ask myself: where would I go if I had to travel the world in 11 stages?

We begin to travel, or to dream, starting from Rome, the most beautiful city in the world in my opinion.  In Rome we can walk through history and culture and above all touch the Roman and Italian traditions first-hand, since in Rome we find everything.

Let's take the plane and be taken to Spain, specifically in Granada at the foot of the Sierra Nevada and let us be carried away by the great architecture dating back to the Arabs.

Then we continue reaching Rio de Janeiro, the best known city in Brazil.  In addition to the beach and the fun, we find the Christ the Redeemer from where we can admire the Brazilian panorama that will take our breath away, I'm sure.

And then we land in Punta Arenas, Chile. Of course, speaking of Sir Francis Drake, I referred to Magellan, and how can we not pass through the Strait of Magellan if we travel around the world?  Drake also passed by and it is one of the most evocative places in the world also because there are thousands of king penguins, my favorite animals.

If we manage to leave this place, the next stop will be Machu Picchu in Peru among the seven wonders of the world.  You can walk in the company of the lamas along the Urubamba valley and being an ancient Inca city there are some amazing things to see.

After passing Latin America we find ourselves in New York, more precisely in San Francisco where under the fog we can see the Golden Gate Bridge and the Victorian houses.  It is located on the tip of a hill and is completely surrounded by the Pacific Ocean.

I would add Alaska to our trip but only for those who are really ready.  For those who feel ready we can start walking on the Stampede Trail in search of the Magic Bus.

We cross the ocean to get to Kyoto.  It is our first Asian stop and in Japan it is perhaps the city with the most temples.  Through a thousand sensations we can see the cherry trees in bloom and the Zen gardens to make this journey unique.

Going south we land in Australia to see the largest coral reef in the world and to swim in one of the clearest and most evocative air.

From Oceania we return to Asia, where Cambodia awaits us for a short visit to the temple of Angkor and its Ta Keo.

Last stop but no less important than the others, is Cape Town in South Africa, where with a cable car you can get to the top of the mountain that will allow you to watch the wonderful panorama.  In addition, you can visit the prison where Nelson Mandela was imprisoned on Robben Island which is now a museum.
