THE DEVIL'S VIOLINIST

Hi guys and welcome back to our blog! Today I’d like to talk  about a film I watched some days ago. This film is titled “The devil’s violinist” and it’s the story of the greatest and most virtuoso violinist, and composer, in the history of Music: Nicolò Paganini.

It’s a 2013  movie  directed by Bernard Rose.  The protagonist , Paganini,  is interpreted by David Garrett, a very famous present-day violinist and composer. He adapted all pieces in the movie to his abilities exalting the mastery and talent of Paganini. There are other actors like Jared Harris, who plays Urbani, a mysterious impresario and agent, Andrea Deck is a very beautiful Charlotte Watson, with whom Paganini fell in love,  and the cast includes other very talented actors. The beautiful locations of the film are in Germany, Austria, England and Italy.

The plot

The story is set in 1830. Niccolò Paganini, a virtuoso and womanizer, is at the peak of his career, acclaimed throughout Europe thanks to the mysterious impresario, Urbani, with whom he decided to make business. Paganini’s name alone suggests countless affairs and scandals. It was thought he made a deal with the devil to have talent and fame. Only the London public had yet to be conquered. In order to take Paganini to London, impresario John Watson risks everything he has. Business-savvy Urbani ultimately manages to take Paganini to the British capital, albeit against his will. Thanks to the journalist Ethel Langham, Urbani’s plan seems to succeed.

Since he was welcome by a group of protesters outside the hotel who claimed that Paganini was a worshipper of the devil,  he and Urbani had to move to the Watsons’ house,  where Paganini quickly takes a liking to him.

I really love this film especially for Paganini’s story and for the soundtrack, it’s extraordinary! My favourite piece is Caprice n.24 and  “Io ti penso amore” but not for its romanticism, for its melody and for the wonderful voice of Charlotte Watson.

So,  I hope I’ve intrigued you, let me know if you’re going to see it or if you’ve already seen it in the comments section below.
