During the Summer we read an article about Martin Luther King. He was a Protestant minister, leader of a movement for African Americans civil rights. However King was a great man first of all for his battles for the emancipation of black people. He even ended up in jail, risked his own life several times, but despite everything he kept living to reach his dream.

DREAMING OF FREEDOM
Freedom is a condition in which people have
the opportunity to speak, act and pursue happiness without unnecessary external
restrictions. Freedom is important because it leads to enhanced expressions of
creativity and original thought, increased productivity, and an overall high
quality of life.
Freedom must be redefined and defended anew by
each generation.
History champions the stories of great people
who have changed the world by advocating and fighting for human and civil
rights.

MARTIN LUTHER KING DAY
Today, Monday 16th January, it's a special day in the USA. It is "Martin Luther King Day" (or King Day or MLK Day) and this is a federal holiday. It is celebrated annually on the 3rd Monday of January to commemorate the birthday of American civil rights leader Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr (15th January 1929).
Martin Luther King was hugely influential in the American Civil Rights Movement (despite never holding public office) and was a major advocate of non-violent activism in the struggle for the end of racial discrimination under US law. He was assassinated in 1968.
