DO YOU KNOW WHAT HAPPINESS IS?

What is happiness?

According to the dictionary definition, happiness is the state of mind of someone who is serene, untroubled by pain or worries. According to psychologists, it’s the ability to experience positive emotions, realize one’s aspirations and develop talents. For philosophers it’s the increase of one’s potential that can only be achieved by knowing oneself. For the religious it’s faith, prayer and forgiveness. According to the students it’s a good grade, for those who play sports it’s a won race, for a couple it’s love, for poets it’s their way of being. For many others is wealth, health, luck, success and much more. But then, what is happiness really?

CARPE DIEM

Carpe Diem is a Latin aphorism, usually translated as "Seize the Day" in English, taken from the Roman poet Horace's Odes (23 BC).

Last year I studied this poem and now that  I'm in my last year of school I know what I want to do in the future. But many people still have confused ideas about what they want to do and become. The meaning of this poem helped me understand a lot about myself and what I really want to do in my life.

What is motivation?

Motivation is the expression of the motives that lead an individual to perform towards a certain action. It can be defined as the set of dynamic factors that push the behaviours of an individual towards a goal; according to this conception, every act that is carried out without motivation risks failure.

WHAT CAN WE DO TO MAKE OUR PRESENT AND FUTURE BETTER?

On 31st December I was hopeful, deep in thought and reflecting on my own New Year's Resolutions: I hoped 2022 would be a year of change for me so I started wondering what I could do to be an active change maker, for myself, my family and the whole world.

I was also inspired by the words of our President Sergio Mattarella. His words were truly inspiring.
