Last summer
we happened to see the movie PASSENGERS. Have you seen it? We both loved it and
are here to share our musings with you. Are you ready?
The movie
is set in the space, on the space shuttle Avalon travelling from the Earth to
another planet, Homestead II.
On the
space shuttle there are 5,000 passengers who are sleeping in space capsules.
During a collision with a meteorite, one of the capsules breaks and Jim ( Chris
Pratt) wakes up 90 years before the
expected arrival. When Jim discovers that he is the only one awake and he will
die there, alone, he decides to wake another passenger up. He chooses Aurora
(Jennifer Lawrence).
At first
they have a lot of fun on Avalon, but when Aurora discovers that she was woken
up by Jim, she becomes furious with him.
At the end
of the movie, Aurora forgives Jim won by love, and together they try to save
the other 4, 998 passengers.
It’s a very
beautiful, romantic, thought – provoking film, with unexpected twists and breath-taking special effects – for example,
the scenes in the swimming pool with no gravity.
Or when
Avalon passes by an incandescent star!
This
romantic movie isn’t just about love, but
it also deals with loneliness, hope, hate, rage and strength.
The scene
is stolen by the two wonderful talented actors, Chris Pratt and Jennifer
Lawrence, two of the most popular film stars in the last few years.
Chris Pratt
starred in many movies, like Jurassic World or Guardians of the Galaxy. He
demonstrates great stage presence and irony.
Jennifer
Lawrence, instead, came to fame as Katniss Everdeen, the heroine in the Hunger
Games films. She also acted in other famous movies like Joy, X-Man and Silver Linings Playbook, and she won an Oscar (in 2013).
DID YOU
KNOW THAT …?
The
director of Passengers is Morten Tyldum;
It was
written by Jon Spaihts;
The voice
of the space shuttle Avalon belongs to Emma Clarke;
In the USA
Passengers received a PG-13 , Parents Strongly Cautioned, (banned to under 13
people not accompanied by parents) because of naked and sex scenes;
The film
was shot in the Atlas Mountains.
That’s
all for now. We strongly recommend you
to see his film and will start looking forward to your comments!
