MARVEL’S THE AVENGERS

Who are the Avengers?

The Avengers are superheroes belonging to the Marvel universe. They are a team of extraordinary individuals, with superpowers and special characteristics. Their purpose is to protect global stability from inner or extraterrestrial threats. Though primarily affiliated with the United States of America, they work  with the peaceful interests of the whole world rather than a specific country or organization.

The first six Avengers were:

-          Iron Man, Tony Stark (Robert Downey Junior)

-          Captain America, Steve Rogers (Chris Evans)

-          Thor, Thor Odinson (Chris Hemsworth)

-          Hulk, Bruce Banner (Mark Ruffalo)

-          Black Widow, Natasha Romanov (Scarlett Johasson)

-          Hawkeye, Clint Barton (Jeremy Renner).

Their story

Their story is divided into three phases:

-          The first phase began with Iron Man (2008) included The Incredible Hulk (2008), Iron Man 2 (2010), Thor (2011), Captain America: the first Avenger (2011), and was concluded by The Avengers (2012)

-    The second phase began with Iron Man 3 (2013) included Thor: the Dark World (2013), Captain America: the Winter Soldier (2014), Guardian of the Galaxy (2014), Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015) and was concluded by Ant Man (2014)

-      The third phase began with Captain America: Civil War (2016) and included Doctor Strange (2016), Guardian of the Galaxy 2 (2017), Thor: Ragnorok (2017), Black Panter (2018), Avengers: Infinity War (2018), Ant Man and the Wasp (2018), Captain Marvel (2019), Avengers: Endgame (2019) and was concluded by Spider-Man: Far from home.

First phase

The first phase, also called Avengers Assemble, is the first part of the MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe) and Infinity Saga.

The most important film of this phase is The Avengers. In that film Loki, Thor’s stepbrother, attacked New York with Chitauri,  strange alien monsters, and using the power of the Tesseract opened an interdimentional gap which had to land Thanos and his army on the Earth. But the first six Avengers won against the Chitauri. So Iron Man was able to launch a missile on New York, which is stopped and averted: the missile will destroy the spaceship and all the Chitauri still live.

Second phase

This is the phase of Avengers Two , Avengers: Age of Ultron. Who is Ultron? Ultron is an artificial intelligence created by Tony Stark and Bruce Banner. In this film , Ultron wants to destroy the world by raising a small town, Sokovia, and he wants to drop it to the ground destroying the world. But the Avengers put all the citizens of Sokovia in safety and Iron Man and Thor manage to destroy the city before it hits the ground, saving the world, for the second time.

Third phase

In this phase there are two important films: Avengers 3, Avengers: Infinity War,  and Avengers 4 Avengers: Endgame. In the first,  Thanos, the villain who sent the army of Chitauri to New York, tries to get all the six infinity gems:

-          Time (Doctor Strange)

-          Mind (Vision)

-          Reality (The Collector)

-          Power (Nova Corp)

-          Space (Asgardians)

-          Soul (Vormir)

With all the six gems Thanos can extinguish half of every creature existing just snapping his fingers. Obviously,  he succeeds in taking all the six gems and in Wakanda, Black Panter’s country, Thanos takes the last gem and finally snaps his fingers.

The second movie, Avengers: Endgame,  picks up after the events of Avengers: Infinity War, which saw the Avengers divided and defeated. Thanos won the day and used the Infinity Stones to snap away half of all life in the universe.

Only the original Avengers - Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, Hulk, Black Widow, and Hawkeye remain, along with some key allies like War Machine, Ant-Man, Rocket Raccoon, Nebula, and Captain Marvel.

When an opportunity presents itself to potentially save those who vanished, they all come together and set out to defeat Thanos, once and for all. The Avengers win in the end, but thanks fo Iron Man who sacrifices his life in the attempt to stop Thanos.

The End

Unfortunately Iron Man, who was my favourite superhero, is dead and I will be looking forward to Iron Man 4,  even though no one has announced it so far. In the meantime,  we could  discuss the release movies in the comment section  below. Let’s start with… “who is your favourite superhero?”
