MASTERMINDS & GENIUSES BUT ... NOT AT SCHOOL!

Hi guys! This time I’m going to write about something I hope you may find interesting. My post deals with very successful people who actually weren’t so good at school. If you want to find out more about them, you just need to keep reading and, trust me, you won’t regret it.
Albert Einstein
You may have heard something about Einstein’s bad marks in Maths and Physics, well I must tell you that it wasn’t true at all. In fact, Einstein was actually a prodigy in those two subjects. He was able to teach himself things he hadn’t studied yet. What is true about him is that he first failed the exam to enter the Swiss Federal Polytechnic because he didn’t reach the required standard in the general part of the examinations, even though he got a great score in Maths and Physics.

Einstein's matriculation showing his final grades on a scale of 1-6, with 6 as highest possible mark. The only 5 subjects with 6 are History, Algebra, Geometry, Descriptive Geometry, Physics.

Eminem
You probably know the American rapper Eminem, don’t you? According to the American magazine “Rolling Stone” he is the “King of Hip Hop”, he is also one of the world’s best selling artists of all time. His school career was disastrous: he left High School after being in the same class for three years in a row due to unjustified absences. The only subject he was interested in was English and  he preferred comic books to literature.

Charles Darwin
Famous for his Evolution Theory, he annoyed his father since secondary school when he used to make chemical experiments in the garden with his brother. His father wanted him to attend the best Medical University in the UK, which was located in Edinburgh. Anyway, he wasn’t fond of it and left University without finishing his studies. His passion was biology and also when his father sent him to study in Cambridge he used to spend time listening to other scientists’ ideas.

Bill Gates
I bet you have used a computer with Microsoft at least once in your life. Well, its founder Bill Gates used to have troubles at school because of his passion for computers. It all started when his school bought hours of computer usage in order to let its students use it. It didn’t take long for Bill and his friends to fall in love with that device which became an addiction. They were able to hack into the computer in order to use it more than they were allowed to. Anyway, all that time spent using the computer started causing him school problems: bad marks, unjustified delays and absences… However, this passion became his job and he is now one of the richest men in the world thanks to his company,  Microsoft. Here are some words he said talking about his school career:
“I failed in some subjects in exam, but my friend passed in all.
Now he is an engineer in Microsoft and I am the owner of Microsoft”

Hope you guys enjoyed this post. Let us know in the comment section your thoughts and if you think school is important if you want to have a successful career.

  1. I hope school grades will mean nothing in my future
I’m ruining my school career as I speak! I just draw or learn about other things i’m passionate about instead of studying, like I obviously should... guess i’m just not really good at studying.
    Thought provoking, liked the post

    2. Find something you're interested in, turn it into your job and you'll never really work. Anyway I think it's always important to have at least the essential knowledge for a conscious involvement in any circumstance and this is exactly the reason why school is important if you want to live as free man or woman.
