INSATIABLE- SHOULD YOUR APPEARANCE INFLUENCE ALL YOUR LIFE?

What counts the most?  Your appearance or who you really are? Just 7 words: “don’t judge a book by its cover”.

Just a few days ago Netflix released the second season of Insatiable.
Insatiable is a tv series, starring Debby Rayan as main protagonist. It is about Patty (Debby) that is overweight and for this reason she has just one friend while all the others bully her and call her ‘Fatty Patty’.

After an accident she has to stay in the hospital for three months and she can’t eat, so she loses thirty kilos. After this period, she becomes very thin and beautiful. Suddenly,  she is very popular, all the boys like her and no one treats her badly anymore,  instead,  everyone wants to be her friend, so she is finally accepted just because she is thin.

According to me this series transmits a wrong message, “if you’re beautiful outside you are a beautiful person”. That’s not true! Patty in the series isn’t a good person, even though she is very beautiful.
The series makes it seem  you can do something of your life only if you are thin.

The most important thing according to me is to love yourself the way you are and to try to be a beautiful person being kind and loving with the others because you can’t change your aspect, but you surely can change your way to see life.
I think you shouldn’t focus on what people say about you, but you should learn to respect yourself, and should focus  on what you already have, because sometimes we don’t realize that we really have a lot.

This doesn’t mean that overweight is good, on the other hand it can be very dangerous for health, but people should not be outcasts because of their look or weight.

The actors defended the series over and over, telling that it is just satire about how trying to be liked by others could be deceiving and they said it deals with an issue like body shaming and how it can be won and how to fill a void.
Other people have defended it telling that it is not body shaming,  but that it shames the society we live in. Even if Insatiable has been much criticised, a lot of people liked it, and the second season has just been released.

So, in conclusion, should your appearance influence you and what you want to do in your life? In my opinion, not at all. The cover doesn’t count more than the content.

What about you, what do you think? Did you like Insatiable, are you going to see the second season? Will the second season be better than the first? Let me know. Can’t wait for your comments!
