5. GIVE ME LOVE
This song dates back to six years ago
and is about necessary love, which one
cannot live without. In the lyrics Ed tells us that love has no limits and that
it’s one of the few things that makes us complete. He makes us aware of the
fact that love is a beautiful thing that can save us. In the video there’s a
disappointed and wounded girl who turns into an angel of love, who with her
arrows hits people and makes them fall in love. Love can save us but sometimes
it can also hurts us.
4. PHOTOGRAPH
It is about love and how a photo can
express love between two people, their love is frozen and eternal in that
picture until it is destroyed. We can keep that picture of us in our perfect
moment of love with someone close to our heart to never let go. Sometimes we may fight
and sometimes we can hurt each other in love but the picture keeps a memory of
when things are working. No matter what
we go through, our love will live in those photographs.
3. THINKING OUT LOUD
This song is a romantic ballad in which Ed Sheeran
expresses his love for his beloved. He wonders if he will still love her when
they are old and replies that his love for her will still be as strong as it is
now. Then he imagines himself old and no longer famous but he knows that the
girl will continue to love him because, even though the body grows old, his inner beauty
will remain the same.
He talks about people who fall in love in a mysterious
way, in trivial or bizarre ways, wondering if there is a force behind making
sure that this happens. But about his love story, he says he feels like he falls in love more and
more every day .
2. SUPERMARKET FLOWER
In
an interview Ed Sheeran said that this song is special. His grandmother was
very ill when he was working on the record and she passed away when he finished, so he wrote
this song as a tribute and just left it on. He revealed that he wasn't
initially going to include the song on 'Divide', but his grandfather encouraged
him to put it in the album because it was a nice way to remember her.
For
him it was really hard to write it but very easy in terms of its flow. Because
he didn’t try to think of poignant lines. It was just so spot on and the lyrics
‘you are an angel in the shape of my mom’, that could end up in a poignant
line.
It was that line which first convinced most
people that the song was about Ed's mum, but it turns out the song is actually
written from her perspective rather than about her.
1. PERFECT
The subject of the song is a British woman named Cherry Seaborn who, besides being a childhood friend of Ed's, is, as can be seen from the lyrics of "Perfect", his love interest. At first, he praises Cherry. Then he expresses his desire to share a home and have children with her, thus hinting at marriage.

He also
recognizes that they are still children and that refining their love will be an
uphill battle. However, he is optimistic and sure everything will be fine. He
foresees a future in which they are still together. And once again praises her
perfection. For the first time, the lyrics refer to the general perfection of
his beloved, calling her "an angel in person".
However,
immediately afterwards he again praises her impeccable beauty. He even goes as
far as to claim that she didn't deserve someone as attractive as her. Thanks to
this song, one can understand that Ed is madly in love with Cherry and, indeed,
he has been for most of his life.
