TOP 5 MOST EXPENSIVE FOODS

We all love eating good food. We can choose among a huge variety, they have different origins, tastes, shapes and prices. In this post  I’m going to list some of  the most expensive foods in the world. Remember,  if you want to taste them, you may not  like them, because they are not for everyone.

Number 5: Jamòn Ibèrico AKA PATA NEGRA

The first food in this list is a particular type of ham, it is from Spain and it is dark pig meat, it can cost 4,500$ per kilogram. These pigs follow a specific diet, they eat nearly only acorns and this makes the meat very tasty. Before it is sold, it gets matured for 3 years. In 2020 it was sold for 14,000$

Number4: White Truffle of Alba

It can cost 2,500$ per kilogram, it is from Piemonte and it can be found only in wild nature. In the 2007 1.5 kilograms of this special type of truffle was sold for 350,000$.

Number 3: Swallow Nest Soup

It costs nearly 80$ per bowl. Many people say it has medical propriety. This dish is made boiling a swallow nest which is made up of  the saliva of the bird, grass, feathers and kelps; the price is so high because the bird builds its nest on picks in caves.

Number 2: Caviar of Beluga

These microscopic fish eggs can cost till 9,700$ per kilogram. It is from albino sturgeon which is very rare. It makes eggs only every 100 years. A lot of environmentalists asked to stop the production of this food, because the sturgeon is on the verge of extinction.

Number 1: Edible Gold AKA Food Gold

As you can imagine,  this is simply edible 24 karates gold. It does not have much taste and flavour,  however it costs 30,000$ per kilogram. Gualtiero Marchesi is the one who made this food so famous, specifically with his golden risotto. As I said before,  gold has not got particular nutrients or taste, but it is appreciated by rich people, as a symbol of luxury.

Which of these edible luxuries would you like to try, if any? Tell us in the comment section and … see you next month!
