Hi, everyone! Christmas is almost here and I’m so excited! It is one of the most wonderful times of the year. Will you play board games during your Christmas holidays? I think they will be great fun this year too, because in my family Christmas isn’t Christmas without board games! In this post I want to share with you some beautiful games you could play with your family or your friends other than our typical tombola, the most traditional Christmas’ board game for Italian people.
BOARD GAMES FOR ALL TASTES
TRIVIAL PURSUIT
If you want a board game which test your
knowledge about general culture or one of your favourite sagas or TV-series,
Trivial pursuit is for you. The aim of this game is to answer a question about
one of the six different subjects and if your answer is right you’ll take the
plastic colourful slide. When you finish to take all the pieces, you‘ll try to get
back in the place you were at the beginning of the game. There are different
editions besides the classic trivial. You can find ones about Harry Potter, the Lord of the rings, the Big
Bang Theory, Friends, and so on.
CLUEDO
If you love mystery and testing your
logics, you’ll want to try Cluedo. You’ll have to find the killer of a victim, the murder weapon and the place where he/she
was killed. You can do it through the clues of the other players. You can
choose your favourite edition: Scooby Doo, Downtown Abbey, the Game of Thrones,
the new Ghostbusters III…
TABOO
In this game you need to help your
team understand a word you have chosen, without using the words written in the
note. The team which understands most words will win the game. It is a fun game
you can play with your family or friends.
SCARABEO
It is a good game to get to know new words. You must use eight letters to compose a longer word and wedge it between the words of the other players on the notice board. The winner is the person who has the higher score in match.
MONOPOLY
It is the most famous board game in
the world. It is a game of strategy and economy. You can buy properties, exchange
them, build houses and flats and pay or receive money from the bank. There are many
new editions, and you can have credit cards instead of the traditional banknotes.
BOARD GAMES WITH CARDS
Classic board games for the
Christmas’ holidays are games with French and Neapolitan cards or Piacenza
cards. There are so many games you can play! scala quaranta, burraco, scopa, briscola, poker, seven and half….
But I want to describe my favourite one, which is not so well- known. Have you
heard of … Machiavelli?
MACHIAVELLI
It is a pure logic game to be played
with French cards. The aim of the game is to finish your cards. You can also do
straight and three of a kind like in scala
quaranta, but the difference is that you can change the three of a kind and
straight in the table to finish your cards. There are eight cards for each player
and you can only take one card or put it on the table, when is your round.
There are also other beautiful
games, but the ones I’ve chosen are the ones I usually play with my family. I have a special bond with them, lots of good
memories, and I hope these games will be
fun to play this upcoming Christmas time too. Let’s hope it will be joyful and
careless and that we can all spend some relaxing time with our dear despite the
pandemic and the need for social distancing.
