THE GOLDEN 80s & 90s

Hi guys, today we want to talk about the songs of a time gone by, but that we will never forget . We are talking about songs that have made the history of music, songs from the 80s & 90s. The music of the past is very different from today's music. Once you had to know how to play an instrument or have a great voice or at least to know how to tell a story in your lyrics but, nowadays,  very simply with a computer everybody can make and release a song, even your Maths/English/Science teacher
Everybody knows that since many years the music that we hear is contaminated by money and business so it is a bit difficult to recognize a good song when you hear it. However not all contemporary music has to be thrown away , absolutely not!
Now let's not think about this and think more about the 80s/90s hits. Here we have the top songs chart by MTV.  We’ve chosen to see just the first five songs that in ascending order are :

5. Losing My Religion by R.E.M.

Losing my Religion unlike to what you might guess from the text and the music video is not a song about faith, in fact this expression coming from the South of the States means losing your mind/patience. The song is the work of guitarist Peter Buck, who composed it while he was watching television holding a mandolin just bought. It is a single of 1991 and it is the single who gave to the R.E.M. their worldwide success.

4. Light My Fire by The Doors

The song came from an unfinished composition by Robby Krieger and was completed by Jim Morrison. A first version was released in 1967, and a second the next year, and a third one as a cover recorded by Jose Feliciano in 1968. The last publication is from 1983 in their album Alive ( the first of a series of collections of lives ). We can say that this song has marked the history of psychedelic rock and jazz fusion, and absolutely has marked our hearts.

3. With Or Without You by U2

The song was greatly successful and, even today,  with ''One'',  it is among the best-known hits of the Irish band. The videoclip of the song is almost entirely black and white. The meaning of the song has divided fans: some think that it talks about death, others about religion. We aren't so sure, we think that it tells the story of a troubled love.

2. Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen

One of the most famous band of the world, led by legendary Freddie Mercury. Even today, there are many fans that are trying to solve the mystery of this song. According to many people it's a declaration of his homosexuality. Obviously, the truth died on the 24th November 1991 with Freddie Mercury.  But we know one thing: Bohemian Rhapsody is a masterpiece of music.

1. Thriller by (the King of Pop) Michael Jackson

Who has never heard about Michael  Jackson? No one. Who doesn’t love him? No one. And who doesn’t know the song Thriller and its video? No one . Thriller video is considered the very first music video in the history of music, or,  at least,  it is considered the first music video with a real plot and a choreography perfectly done. In fact, we have to admit that they did a really great job! Even today, many artists are inspired by Thriller to create their music.
