BEING ITALIAN AT THE TIME OF COVID-19

We are a small country, maybe, but we are in the dreams of billions of people all around the world.
They hope, once in their life, to be able to see our country, to admire the largest and most beautiful open-air museum in the world, to enter the Duomo of Milan, to be fascinated by the magic of Venice, by the solemnity of San Pietro, by the Uffizi in Florence, Positano, Capri, the beaches of Sicily and Sardinia, and much more.

DUNNING-KRUGER EFFECT: THE PARADOX OF DELL

I know I do not know,” said Socrates. A fool thinks himself to be wise, but a wise man knows himself to be a fool” wrote Shakespeare.

For centuries we have known we cannot know everything and this is generally accepted. Nevertheless very often we say: “It’s so simple!” when we don’t know enough about a subject. That is called “Dunning – Kruger Effect”.

MR ROBOT: A FEW GOOD REASONS WHY YOU SHOULD WATCH THIS SERIES

Hello everyone! During this period of quarantine I watched a lot of movies and tv series but one in particular got me hooked: Mr Robot. It isn’t the type of tv series that is easy to describe, but I’ll try to do it without giving away huge spoilers.

EXOPLANETS

OUT THERE

We live in a thin spherical shell a few kilometers thick around the surface of the Earth . Even if we explore the deepest abysses in the ocean or climb the most impervious peaks of Himalaya , our reign has ridiculous dimensions .Our little world is also populated by ghosts : we think that everything we perceive is real but as we stray a little from the quite place where we live , everything we know changes . If we want to explore the secrets of the universe we must renounce these certainties preparing for the unthinkable . The research of exoplanets represents one of the last frontiers of modern science ….follow me on this wonderful  journey .

ITALY; THE BEL PAESE

We can’t travel these days, we can’t even go out of our homes. What about a virtual journey throughout our wonderful country?

We Italians sometimes forget it, but if Italy is called “Bel Paese” there is a reason! Already in ancient years Italy gained a place of honour among the most beautiful countries in the world. In fact, the beauties of Italy are renowned everywhere and visitors come from all over the world. From North to South of the boot, each Italian region offers historical monuments, panoramic views and unique villages where time seems to have stopped.
But what is the most beautiful city of all?Rome or Venice? Palermo or Naples?  Italy is the country with the largest number of unique cities which makes choosing the most beautiful very hard. Here are the most beautiful cities, in my opinion.

ARE WE ALONE?

Hi everyone! Today I want to start asking you a question: how big is the universe? “Huge” many of you will answer. And  that’s true! Our universe is enormous, maybe even infinite.  And from our small planet, we can only see a tiny portion of it. So, if it is so big, then it should be reasonably full of life, right? I mean, statistically speaking is very improbable that ours is the only planet in the entire universe in which life flourished. There must be others.

EASTER TIME

Hi guys, how are you? I'm fine, luckily. Today I want to talk about one of the most important holidays in our country and not only. I'm talking about Easter! Let's find out more about this celebration.

Easter, like Christmas, is a consumerist bank holiday nowadays, together with Easter Monday (and Good Friday in the UK). Students and many workers take a break from school and work and people gather with family for a great dinner. Easter eggs, doves, Easter bunnies are just some of the many Easter symbols. However, what is the real meaning of Easter?
In Christian countries, Easter has religious roots as it is the day where believers celebrate Jesus Christ’s Resurrection. According to the New Testament, Jesus died on the Cross on Friday (nowadays it is known as Good Friday) and then he resurrected on Sunday. On Easter Monday, instead, people remember the meeting between the Angel and the women in front of the sepulcher where Jesus was buried.

WILL YOU MARRY ME?

Hello everyone! I’m back and this month I will bring some romance with this article. From now on, be very careful, the story is very atypical.

If you like romance, I have something for you. We are in Russia, precisely inside a military camp. The protagonists are a man and his girlfriend.

CAN SOMEONE PREDICT THE FUTURE?

In the last weeks the only thing you can hear spoken of everywhere is coronavirus. Because of this virus the world has stopped and all the news focus on its devastating effects. The number of the victims all over the world is  increasing as well as the figures related to the infected.
The situation is getting worse in every country in the world and for this reason the WHO, the World Health Organization, labelled it as a pandemic. We are all quarantined and it seems that this situation won’t stop on the 3rd April, as they first announced,  but it will probably continue for some other months.

DEAR 2020

Dear 2020,

let's talk about recent and current events.

You started with winds of war between Iran and the Usa, which, fortunately, subsided after a while, and with the whole Australia that was set on fire. However, that was just the beginning!

Several things happened in February... The sudden death of Kobe Bryant and his daughter upset the world; in Antarctica the record heat of 20.7 degrees was recorded; Brexit came into effect definitively; once again there were tensions between Egypt and Italy over the arrest of Patrick Zaky, who brought back the memory of Giulio Regeni; and then the coronavirus began to spread around the world.

BEING A TEENAGER CAN BE VERY DIFFICULT, CAN'T IT?

Hi guys! Welcome back to our blog.  How are you? I hope you are all coping, I know these are difficult days for everyone. But, let's see what's positive:  now we have a lot of time to spend on self-improvement, doing our homework, chatting with friends, reflecting on what is important or…writing a new post for our blog!

Today I’m going to talk about teenage issues related to our generation. I’m thinking of alcohol, drugs, violence, bullying, anorexia, self-harm and so on.

Even though many young people try not to talk about these topics,  though they experience them directly or indirectly,  they find it difficult to open up and hide the truth to themselves and to the others.
