TEENS & DRUGS

Hi guys! Welcome back to our blog. How are you? I'm Giacomo, and today I would like to write about an important issue, especially for us teenager.
We're in a very, very strange phase of our life, and it's impossible to not get in touch with new things: sometimes, for a variety of reasons, we happen to get in touch with a new world, but it's a very dangerous one: drugs.

I think a guy approaches drugs for a variety of reasons: wanting to try new emotions, desiring not to be excluded from peers, trying to fill in a void or e to escape reality.

Of course, even sociological motivations are important. More than half of drug addicts, according to the statistics, belong to families on a crisis: splitting parents, insufficient dwelling, violent parents, among other reasons.
In general, we can say that drugs lead them to feel something that they still haven’t experienced. It happens, in most of cases,   that they are dissatisfied. Unfortunately, their families, their environment, people they meet have failed them. They begin to criticize adults who often, and it is true, are inconsistent or only think about money. So they move on to belong to a group of peers they can be part of, they can identify with.

Drugs can then become a symbol of rejection of the adults’ society, used as compensation and as an instrument to  reduce stress and unhappiness.
The state of euphoria and numbness that you test with the intake of those substances does nothing but amplify that feeling of detachment from an unpleasant reality.

Many, fortunately, are able to stop on their own, without starting using  the most dangerous substances. Others do not, so they face serious health problems  and create trouble in the whole social community, becoming in turn drug dealers or marginalized people who need help.

Certainly the best cure is prevention, there's no doubt about it! Family and school can do much to ensure that a teen is not tempted to try.

For example it is worth for parents to spend more time with their children.  Teachers should learn how to speak more with their students about their problems and they should let them share part of their lives, and help them find gratification.

However, even once the recruitment mechanism is triggered, you can break free from drugs.
In fact, there are many therapeutic communities, associations and agencies ready to help those who want to get out.

The problem, however, is to prevent the drug addict, once detoxified, to start using again  by eliminating the causes that have led him to start. They should be offered job opportunities  and helped fight the emptiness and solitude they experience as well as to cope with their fears and their lack of ideals.

So, guys, these are my thoughts about drug-addiction:. Remember to be careful and to help your friends in troubles.

Leave a feedback via comment and share this with your friends. See ya in December, bye!

Giacomo
