SHAWN MENDES, WHEN YOU ARE GONE

 

As Shawn Mendes prepares to embark on a massive world tour, he has released an emotional single that reflects on the outcomes of his breakup with Camila Cabello after more than two years of dating.

On April 1st, the singer-songwriter released the new single When You're Gone.

The song was written by Shawn himself with Jonah Shy and Scott Harris and produced by Shawn and Jonah Shy.

Shawn says "When You're Gone" was about processing  loss  and heartbreak in his life, admitting to "hating being alone" after their relationship ended.

On the breakup ballad, he quotes: "I don't want to go on / I don't want what it will be like when you're gone forever." The track comes after “It'll Be Okay” released in December, and both songs were written after the singer's breakup with Camila Cabello.

Along with the song, Shawn also released a new video directed by Jay Martin, shot in Toronto and Austin over several days to capture more moments: from the recording, to the rehearsals, to the first live performance of the song at SXSW.
