Hi everyone! Welcome back to our blog. How are you? I’m fine, I can’t complain. Today
we're going to talk about the Internet.
Nowadays everybody uses it and it has become part of our
lives, especially in this difficult period for us students (but also for the
teachers, of course!).
The access to Internet is a human right. Therefore we urge all states to ensure free access to the network: it’s necessary to obtain the freedom of expression and opinion. One important tool , especially in countries where the media are not independent, as demonstrated by the riots breaking out there, Internet access is part of human rights; moreover, the internet has become an indispensable means for the achievement of a whole range of human rights. It helps fight inequity and accelerate the development and progress of each state.
Freedom of speech and
expression should be guaranteed to every human being, keeping in mind that the internet is
revolutionary because, unlike other media such as radio, television and the
press, which are based on unilateral transmission of information, it is an interactive medium that not only allows
the sharing of information but also the collaboration for the creation of
content.
We should take action and be committed to the issues related
to human rights such as social violence and police force killing or the
restrictions on freedom of assembly, press, movement, because they can affect our
future life. All that can hinder us from
progressing and and may keep entire populations underdeveloped. I’m truly
convinced that the freedom to seek, receive and impart information is not just
a fundamental right , but it is an
important means to fight against ignorance illiteracy and political corruption.
All UN member states should remove laws that prevent or restrict the use of the Internet as a legitimate expression online and to authorize those laws introduced to control various information published in the Net by terrorists. The Internet should be empowered to become an aid or an instrument in the protection and access to other basic human rights such as the right to education and the right to participate in cultural life and enjoy the benefits of scientific progress, and this can contribute to economic growth as well as to social and political life.
Do you agree with me
or are there some points you would disagree on? I’d like to know. Don’t forget to leave your feedback via
