Have you ever heard of the “System of a Down”? They are an American band, but all the membres are from Armenia. They are an Alternative Metal band, who is formed by John Dolmayan (drums), Shavo Odadjian (bass), Daron Malakian (guitar and second singer) and Serj Tankian (lead singer and sometimes also keyboards and second guitarist).
Daron Malakian and Serj
Tankian founded the “System of a Down” in 1998, and in 1999, they released
“System of a Down” a self-titled album. But the real S.O.A.D.-mania started in
2001 with their most famous album “Toxicity”. In 2002 they released “Steal this
Album” and between 2003 and 2004 the first discussions between Tankian and
Malakian started , which would bring them to a separation after the 2006.
Mezmerize and Hypnotize were released in 2005, and in 2006 they broke up to focus on different
projects. Malakian created a new band with Dolmayan, which was called “Scars on
Brodway”, while Tankian chose to develop his solo carreer. Luckily, on November
29 2010, following several weeks of Internet rumors, the System of a Down
officially announced that they would be reuniting for a series of European
festival dates in June 2011.
The goals of the two new songs are to raise
awareness and funds for Armenia and Artsakh amid the 2020 Nagorno-Karabakh war
and Tankian himself donated $250,000 to the Armenia Fund and also participated
in an online fundraising concert called "Rock for Artsakh" in
October.
After so many years, their
music is still good and all their fans have appreciated their coming back. I‘ve
been a fan since I was 13 years old, and I liked “Genocidal Humanoidz“ a lot, because
I prefer the songs with the drums double pedal.
