If you think of something mortal, you will probably think of a cataclysm, like a tornado, or maybe a gun or even poison; but if I told you there is something that can kill you without touching you and It does it in less than 10 minutes? Would you believe me?
I’m thinking of the fourth reactor of Chernobyl, burst up in
1986, provoking a mix between nuclear
fuel, gravel, sand and melted metal.
This is the most dangerous thing on earth. It is called “Elephant’s
foot” and it is the most radioactive
thing on earth, it weighs 800 tons and is 2,5
metres long and 70 centimetres high. It
is like solidified lava; the material was named “Corium”. It was discovered
only some months later by some workers, they were near it only for a few
minutes, but it was enough to kill them.
To keep its effect on the environment restricted,
they built a giant structure in concrete
and steel called “The Sarcophagus”.
If someone were so crazy to approach to
it, he would be invested by 10,000 rontgen per hour.
If you were invested by an amount of 10,000
rontged per hour, the first effects would be that your skin would get grey and bobbles
would grow up on it, like burns. Your skin and muscles would detouch from your
bones, you would get sterile and the cells that produce red globules would be
destroyed, obviously as everyone imagines also your DNA would be modified.
These effects were felt by a Japanese
worker, not due to the “Elephant’s
foot”, but to the explosion of the
nuclear central of “Tokaimura”
The accident happened because of a wrong
mix of uranium and citric acid.
There were 3 workers, but the one who got
more radiations was Hisashi Ouchi .
He received an amount of radiations equal
to an exposition to the “Elephant’s foot” for 10 minutes.
He remained alive for 81 days until the
doctors who took care of him decided to let him die instead of keeping on with that situation.
In the end who created this thing able to kill every kind of lifeform in a few seconds is Man, who is always the creator of his own evil.
