Warning! This post is full of audios so put
your headphones on and let’s get started!
1)TEXT: 90% of pop songs are love songs so we’re going to
write a text about love. Well, in this case we’re supposed to use words such as
sweet, love, heart... so love everywhere.
1a) VERSE: in the verse we can talk about our love for a girl or
a boy: we can say we are falling in love with someone or that she/he is the
sweetest person in the world; we want to kiss him/her for our entire life and
so on.
Verse
I'm falling in your
eyes
And now I’m falling
in love
Your eyes were as a light
Your skin white as a
dove
Oh, you are so
beautiful
I’ll never forget you
But I don’t know
where you are
1b) CHORUS
or REFRAIN: the chorus (or refrain) is the part of a song that
everyone will sing, so we have to use simple and direct sentences easy to
remember (don’t forget to put “love" in it!!!).
Chorus
Where are you
I love you
I want you
Where are you
I Want you
now
We will end with another
verse (in which, for example, we could talk about our sadness because we will
never meet our beloved again), then we’ll repeat the chorus.
2) RHYTHM: we could use different types of rhythm, more or less
complex.
For example:
2b) regular 4/4 with
double Charleston (tum tzz tzz tzz cha tzz tzz tzz): AUDIO 2
2c) pop 6/8 (tum tzz tzz
cha tzz tzz): AUDIO 3
there are innumerable
rhythms, so we could use different ones too.
3) ARRANGEMENT: the arrangement is the instrumental composition
without vocals and rhythm. In a pop song there are four main parts of it.
3a)
ACCOMPANIMENT: in the accompaniment we use chords to accompany the
melody.
Here we can use a guitar,
a piano or other similar instruments.
3b) BASS
LINE: the bass line is the low notes “melody”. Probably, you
will not hear this, but if it wasn’t there, you would notice the difference.
We can play a bass guitar
or a piano.
3c)
MELODY: the
melody is that part of a song everyone whistles.
AND… SIIIIIIING!!!
3d)
STRINGS: without
the strings, the song would sound incomplete. In fact the strings don’t leave
space to a moment of silence.
We probably won’t have an
orchestra, but we could use a keyboard
as well.
We could also add:
- a solo (maybe with an
electric guitar
- choirs
- any sound we want
So, finally, this is my
pop song. Hope you’ll like it!
