ANALYZING THE WALKING DEAD: SEASON 7

Dear fans of The Walking Dead, unfortunately the seventh season is over! As you can see, I love this TV series. This is not my first post, if you remember. I also wrote an article back in October with my mate Alessandro S. (HERE). I can remember my feelings when the seventh season was going to start: the best season ever, they said.

Sincerely, I expected more from the producers; this season had all the pieces to become a masterpiece, but the narrative itself and some details flaws made me change my mind.

ALWAYS THE SAME STORY!

In my opinion the narrative has finished since the end of the fourth season, hasn’t it? The first seasons were more captivating: there is a lack of originality!

In fact the main characters, commanded by Rick Grimes, a former sheriff in the State of Georgia, always have to escape from the “walkers” (zombies) and kill other people so as to obtain food, water and especially a good shelter…

NEGAN: A MYTH FOR SOMEONE, AN ENEMY FOR OTHERS

The most dangerous group Rick’s company has to fight is the one named “The Saviors”.

As you know, the Saviors have a leader, Negan, an authentic bastard! He always raids other villages and butchers who opposes him.

For my liking, he brought irony and twists. Moreover, the character of Negan was praised a lot over the 16 episodes of the season.

SPECIAL EFFECTS: WHAT A MESS!

If you watched the 7th season, you might’ve noticed it: special effects and landscapes aren’t realistic at all, and this annoyed me since The Walking Dead is one of the most followed series in the world.

For example, I’ve read that Shiva, King Ezekiel’s tiger, is a stunt man: you can notice this flaw in the photo.

AN EVENTFUL SEASON FINALE

Despite the numerous shortcomings, I appreciated the last episode of the season, full of action and betrayals. Rick’s group was able to halt the negative pressure coming from Negan’s bad actions.

WE WILL MISS YOU, SASHA!

In the last episode, Sasha killed herself, becoming a zombie to kill Negan. What a scene!

However, Negan succeeded in running away with his followers. Will he come back to kill Rick? Who knows?

HUMANITY IS SAFE!

Rick and friends thought that they were the only survivors in that ruined world, but they weren’t.

Actually, there are still many people organized in strong groups.

Here’s a list of the groups they’ve met so far:

AEXANDRIA

It is a community located in Virginia, USA. Now the village is under Rick’s orders.

HILTOP

It is a farming and pacific village in Virginia once led by Gregory: now it is commanded by Maggie.

SAVIORS

As I said before, it is the dodgiest group, led by Negan.

THE KINGDOM

It is a group of survivors ruled by King Ezekiel, an odd character who owns a tiger, Shiva. Once he fed it in a zoo.

What do you think about the 7th season? Did you like it?
