DANCE, DANCE, DANCE: THE STEP UP SAGA

Do you like dance? Or maybe you like watching dance movies? Well, if you do, you'd better read this! This post is all about dance films: I'm going to talk about the STEP UP saga.

MOVIE 1: THE BEGINNING OF THE SAGA

It is a series of 5 movies which started in 2006. The first movie is a little bit different from the others because in the other 4 movies the story is quite the same. There is a boy or a girl who puts together a crew and they win some dance battles. Of course, the places, the songs and also the dance styles are different.

Instead, the first movie is more a love story than a dance movie, since the two protagonists belong to two different worlds. The girl, Nora, studies ballet in a prestigious school of arts , while the boy, Tyler, is very poor and his dance style is completely different from that of the girl.

The boy, after damaging some props belonging to the theater of the school, is sentenced to 200 hours’ community service, which he has to spent at school. That’s how he meets Nora.

So they meet each other and Tyler starts helping Nora with the choreography in one of her gigs. Even though they are very different they find their way to each other and also start mixing their dance styles.

THE SEQUELS & THE REAL STARS IN THE SAGA

There are many sequels to STEP UP and they have been made because of the huge success of the first movie. In these sequels there are two characters who are always there but they are never the protagonists. It sounds a bit strange, isn't it? Well, these two are Camille and Moose! It’s been about them ever since they first appeared in Step Up 2 and they have always been behind the protagonists, but everybody know the real stars are them!

More specifically Moose is a natural actor, a great performer, and, without question, the series’ most entertaining dancer to watch. He’s also cute and even hot in STEP UP: ALL IN. Such a sexy dancer!

LORELLA BOCCIA & MOVIE 5

In the final scene of the fifth movie there is a dancer who Is Italian! Her name is Lorella Boccia and she has been called by the producers of the film after they saw her exhibitions in the Italian talent show AMICI.

NOT ONLY DANCE MOVIES

The Step Up movies deal with a lot of issues like race, ambition, creativity, teamwork, friendship, loyalty and that makes them fantastic. And I know that may sound a little silly, because they're just "dance movies." But, especially recently, they really tried to cover a lot of larger social themes.

I really like these movies and the dance scenes in them , maybe because I love dancing. But, anyway, I suggest you to see at least the first movie, then, if you like what you see, I’m sure you’ll wish to see them all!

That's all, friends. Looking forward to your comments
