A NEW HIGH- SPEED SYSTEM TECH FOR EXTREME WEATHER EVENTS

How are you guys? Today we will talk about the extreme weather events that are increasingly frequent and with them also lightning, potentially harmful elements that a group of researchers want to keep at bay with a new high-speed system tech. The idea is certainly ambitious and is headed by a Swiss physicist called Jean-Pierre Wolf, laser expert with a passion for meteorology who managed to set up a consortium dedicated to his project.

MEET CHATGPT: THE AI THAT TALKS LIKE A HUMAN

Introduction

ChatGPT is an artificial intelligence (AI) program that can hold conversations with humans, designed to understand and respond to text input in a way that is similar to how a human might. It’s able to learn from the conversations it has with people and improve its responses over time and can also generate new responses based on the information it has learned. It’s a powerful tool that has the potential to revolutionize the way we interact with computers and each other.

HOW PHONES AFFECT HUMANS

WILL THE EARTH'S BLACK BOX RECORD OUR END?

"Unless we dramatically transform our way of life climate change and other man-made perils will cause our civilization to crash," these words are written in the Earth's Black Box (see website)   and they appear as a worrying and dramatic warning for us and for all mankind before it is too late.

It seems an exaggeration but there are those who really think so: in Australia, for example, where at the beginning of the New Year they will build the Earth BlackBox, the black box that will record the end of the Anthropocene.

MY BEST FAVOURITE CARS

Today I'm going to talk to you about my best favourite cars ever starting from an Italian car, Ferrari F40.

 FERRARI F40

The first car I want to talk to you about is my favourite Ferrari, F40. Model created to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the house, it was a very fast berlinetta designed by Pininfarina, built with extensive use of composite materials. The refined and highly performing mechanics combined with a chassis of the highest order made it a car with excellent dynamic qualities, very close to those of a racing prototype. Despite being a street legal car. Although it was only 1987 the F40 managed to exceed 300 km/ h reaching almost 330 km/h, and had 478 horsepower. Even if it is more than 30 years old it is one of my absolute favourite cars for its design but above all for its technical features that at that time were just incredible.

Marie Curie

Bad luck, extreme courage, underestimation of danger: inventors’ life is not always paid back with success. There have been a few who we’ll always be remembered for their inventions, but there are some other we’ll remember because of their tragic deaths related to their own work.  Let’s see some.

SMARTPHONES, SMART ... OWNERS?

Smartphones are surely one of the biggest inventions of the past few years… Everyone has one, and can’t live without it. In the beginning, the phones were big and uncomfortable and you could only use them to make calls but, with time, they became smaller and smaller and with many more functionalities.
Now with the arrival of smartphones they’ve become so big but still comfortable, they have very advanced functions and we can say they are “mini-pc”. Certainly, smartphones make life easier,  but like everything else,  they have their downsides and we are going to talk about some of them…

HAS TECHNOLOGY RUINED OUR LIVES?

Has technology ruined our lives? Should we consider it progression or regression ? We watched two videos in our English lessons, we discussed them together and we also wrote our reflections on the issues they deal with.
In the first video Simon Sinek tells us about Millenials, people born approximately 1984 and after.  He tells how the Millenials are rarely truly happy or satisfied and that they are accused of being entitled, unfocused, lazy and narcissistic. But he also explains that it is not their fault, there are  several different reasons and one of them is their excessive use of technological devices and social media.
