Today I’d like to share with you my musings on the latest album of one of my favourite bands, Dream Theater.
Let’s delve into the world of their latest work, released on 22nd October 2021. I’m always excited when a new Dream Theater’s album comes out and so I am this time.
The artwork on the cover is amazing, confused, and sublime, as the entire album is. There are visual elements that the listener will find quoted in some songs. For example, the waterfalls represent the fast variations and jam sessions and there is also the official Dream Theater logo on the right.
I think the best way to listen
to this work is to just listen to all the tracks in the given order; possibly,
do it while sitting or lying down in a comfortable and relaxing
environment. Just enjoy the experience!
In “A view from the top of the world”, the most important elements are always the listeners’ feelings.
But let’s talk about more
technical features. First of all, I can say that, musically, this is one of
their best albums ever. Mangini, the drummer, is amazing. Petrucci’s solos are
simply incredible, but, on the other hand, many of them are quite repetitive
and evitable. Despite that, he proved he still is one of the greatest
guitarists in the world.
Something I’m really sad to notice is that La Brie,
the singer, is not in his best form. Probably, he won’t be anymore because he’s 60 years old!
In conclusion, I can easily state
that this album is a great one. It totally
deserves to be cherished! So relax, and
take your time to enjoy “A view from the top of the world”!
From
