NEW DELHI, FIRST LOCKDOWN FOR POLLUTION

Hi everyone! Today I am going to tell you about something worrying happening in India. In the city of New Delhi, in India, the government declared the first lockdown because of pollution. The main causes are the levels of pollution of the air recorded at the beginning of November.

Few days ago, even schools and many coal centrals were stopped (which supplied electric energy for the city). These two measures are added to others that had already been introduced, such as the stop to construction sites or to the transportation of less important goods. The government invited citizens to stay at home and authorities are thinking about closing industries.

They are mostly worried about the concentration of fine dust in the air. The analysis revealed levels of pollution seven times higher than the maximum allowed (density of dust in the air about 300 μg/m^3).

The situation should improve with the arrival of winds, but meanwhile,  people still get ill, developing respiratory problems and pathologies.  According to Greenpeace, in   2020, in the city of Delhi, about 57,000 people died because of pollution.

Our world is collapsing because of our indifference. The issues we have to deal with are serious and urgent. This is why everyone should  start doing something, even small things,  to contribute and  improve the situation, little by little, in order to preserve our planet for next generations.
