Hello world! We are Gabriele and GB and today we’d like to tell you how Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, the best footballers in the world, lived before they became famous. If you are a football lover, go on reading.
Lionel Andrés Messi Cuccittini was born on 24 June 1987 in Rosario, Argentina.
Third of four children, Leo was a football lover. He was a supporter of “Newell’s Old Boys”, a team of Rosario. During the 6 years he played for the team, he scored almost 500 goals. One day he had to play the final of a tournament, but shortly before the game he was closed in the toilet of the dressing room by an opponent. He succeeded in passing through the window and got to the match anyway. His team was losing 3-0 but he arrived and scored 5 goals! Newell’s Old Boys were the champions of the tournament.
After some days, one of Barcelona’s coaches, that had seen the match, called him to play with them. So Messi had to move to Spain with his dad. Leo was having a growth problem and the new team spent a lot of money to treat him. Messi started to score more and more goals and Barcelona loved watching him play. But he wasn’t very happy. One day things changed: Messi scored the first goal for the first team on 1st May 2005. The future is history.
In his career, in 13 seasons he won 30 trophies with Barcelona, 45 personal trophies and only a U-20 World cup with Argentina. He scored more than 500 goals.
Cristiano Ronaldo dos Santos Aveiro is his full name. He was born on 5th February 1985 in Funchal, Portugal.
His name “Cristiano” is due to his mother’s strong christian faith. Cristiano has two brothers and one sister, but there were a lot of problems in the family: the father was an alcoholic and he died in 2005, his older brother was a crack addicted and little Cristiano had a serious heart problem.
Cristiano was a terrible student: on the first school day in Lisbon the teacher asked him to show the class who he was; he answered “Hello, I’m Cristiano Ronaldo and I am from Madeira” and all the class and even the teacher started laughing. Cristiano picked the chair and said to the teacher:” If you don’t stop laughing, I will throw this to your face”. Cristiano only loved playing football and he spent every day training himself and working hard.
At 11 he started playing with the team Sporting Lisbon, one of the most important teams in Portugal and He moved to Manchester United at 20. Now he is in the best moment of his carreer in Real Madrid.
He has collected 21 trophies with clubs, 27 personal trophies and 1 trophy with Portugal.
In the end we can say that they are 2 legends of football and it is rather a coincidence that they play in the same era. Who is your favouritee between the two?
