Thanks to school
you can make lots of new experiences and learn a great deal about the past. A
very special way to learn about the past is going on a school trip. On 27th March we visited the “Piana delle Orme
Museum" where you can get to know quite a bit about 20th century history
and, especially, WWII.
This is a historic and scenic museum that houses one of the
largest war relics collections in the world regarding World War II. It’s a
truly involving journey back in time with special effects and realia which tell
the visitors much of the traditions and culture of rural life, the reclamation
of the Pontine Marshes, the war, the deportations, the contribution of
industrialization to the war, the machinery and a toy collections from the 1920s
to the present day. The historical theme park covers over 30,000 square meters with
its exhibition distributed among twelve pavilions. It is a place full of
emotions and surprises both for young and less young visitors!
We visited the Military area. It shows some of the major
fronts of World War II in a historically structured path which starts from the
causes that led to the conflict. Images, videos, tools and vehicles, plus
thousands of artifacts documenting the dramatic events and helping place them
in time and space. The special exhibition system, atmospheric and poignant,
leads to a serious reflection on the war. In the exhibition you will find some
rare and famous historical vehicles, like the fighter USES come from the sea.
It’s been a very educational, interesting visit. We included
some of the pictures we took at the exhibition in the video below we made and
uploaded on our Youtube channel. We hope you’ll like it!
