Artists, especially singers, when the world experiences
periods of difficulty, give a hand doing what they know best.
These are among the most famous songs that were meant to help the world to
become a better place!
We Are the World
This is a song and charity single originally
recorded by the United Support of Artists (USA) for Africa in 1985. Several
musicians were contacted by the pair, before Jackson and Richie were assigned
the task of writing the song.
Awarded numerous honors and the promotion and merchandise
aided the success of this song and raised
over $63 million for humanitarian aid in Africa and the US .
We Are the World 25 for Haiti
Following the devastation caused by the earthquake in
Haiti of 2010, a remake of the song by another all-star cast of singers
was recorded.
This is musically structured similar to "We Are the
World", but includes a rap verse which was written by some of the song's hip
hop artists. Michael Jackson died months before the song's
release, but his material from the 1985 recording sessions was incorporated
into the song and music video.
#WHERESTHELOVE
To commemorate just how rubbish things have got in terms of
global affairs, Will.I.Am and bandmates Fergie , Taboo and Apl.De.Ap have
reunited for a poignant reworking of their 2003 anthem "Where Is The
Love?"
The video, which features images from the war in
Syria, the migrant crisis (including the image of three-year-old Alan Kurdi's
lifeless body), and the Black Lives Matter protests across the U.S.,
also features appearances from Kris and Kendall
Jenner to basketball legend Kareem Abdul-Jabbar,
Do they know it’s Christmas?
It was re-recorded three times: in 1989, 2004, and 2014.
All the re-recordings were also charity records; the 1989 and 2004 versions
also provide money for famine relief, while the 2014 version was used to raise funds
for the Ebola crisis in West Africa.
Vocal contributions for 2014 version came from artists
including Bono, Chris Martin , Ed Sheeran, One Direction, Paloma
Faith, Ellie Goulding, Seal, Sam Smith, Sinéad O'Connor, Rita
Ora, Emeli Sandé, Bastille and Olly Murs.
Domani 21/04.09
This is a charity single released by the supergroup Artisti
Uniti per l'Abruzzo in 2009. The project supported the victims of the 2009
L'Aquila earthquake.
