Wayward Pines is an unusual story about the human existence and extinction. This science-fiction television series tells about a group of people who apparently live in a calm town in Idaho, USA, called Wayward Pines, which seems an imitation of the typical American small town. Everyone has been living there since they woke up after being involved in an accident: this is no coincidence. This village looks like a world apart because there is no notice about the rest of the planet. Moreover a huge wall surrounds and protects the residential area.
But why do they need this shelter? We cannot tell you what there is outside but we are sure that you will be surprised. There are some rules in the village: you mustn’t tell about the past and you have to answer the phone; if you do it, you’ll be able to enjoy your life in Wayward Pines. In the first season a man called Ethan Burke starts having doubts and after a long period of investigation, he discovers the truth about Wayward Pines-
In the first episodes the main topic is the village itself, instead in the second season the real issue is how to make the village safer...
The story of Wayward Pines is based on the trilogy written by Blake Crouch, but we haven’t read it yet. Fans will be very happy to know that WWP 3 has a great chance of renewal, as stated by Fox Television Group. Unfortunately, the next season might be the last one. We liked WWP because we are fascinated by post-apocalyptic narratives; it isn’t the classic struggle for survival, but a mix of mystery, thriller and adventure: in fact at the beginning they don’t know why they’re there and what has happened to their relatives.
If you watch this TV series, you will be able to understand the meaningful message that this story conveys: we can’t exploit our planet anymore, because it has already been greatly damaged.
