GOSSIP GIRL

Here’s to you a  TV series I am really fond of: Gossip Girl. It  is an American teen drama television series based on a book series of the same name written by Cecily von Ziegesar. Narrated by the omniscient blogger “Gossip Girl”, the series revolves around the fictional lives of Upper East Side.

The series begins with the return of Upper East Side teenage girl,  Serena van der Woodsen,  after a mysterious absence. Not everyone welcomes Serena back to Manhattan with open arms.

“Hey Upper East Siders, Gossip Girl here and I have the biggest news ever. One of my many sources, Melanie 91, sends us this: “Spotted at Grand Central, bags in hand: Serena van der Woodsen.”

THE MAIN CHARACTERS ARE:

●Serena van der Woodsen: she is often described as the “it-girl”. She is very beautiful and she has a scandalous past.

●Dan Humprey: he is an outsider who becomes a part of the turbulent Manhattan scene. He is an aspiring writer. He falls in love with Serena.

●Blair Waldorf (my favourite character): she is the beautiful “Queen Bee” of Costance Billard School’s social scene. She is very intelligent and smart.

●Nate Archibald: he is the perfect “Golden Boy” of the Upper East Side. At the beginning of the series, he is Blair’s boyfriend.

●Chuck Bass: he can be considered the show’s antihero, being a womanizer and party lover with a troubled life. He falls in love with Blair.

10 SURPRISING THINGS ABOUT GOSSIP GIRL (beware of spoilers!)

1. Before they were lovers, Penn Badgley and Blake Lively were home-schooled together as kids.

2. There is actually a Gossip Girl Day in New York City – January 26th!

3. Leighton Meester is naturally blonde. She dyed her hair brunette for her role as Blair.

4. The actors who played Rufus and Lily, Matthew Settle and Kelly Rutherford, used to date in real life – before the show even began!

5. Blair’s look was inspired by Audrey Hepburn.

6. The van der Woodsens lived in the Milan Condominiums on the Upper East Side. The apartment later sold for $6.8 million.

7. Ed Westwick – Chuck – originally auditioned for the role of Nate. But producers thought he looked more like a ‘serial killer than a romantic lead’.

8. Chuck and Blair were always planned to end up together.

9. The Empire – Chuck’s hotel – is a real hotel. The bar served the XOXO cocktail with a secret ingredient they’ll ‘never tell’.

10.  Penn Badgley didn’t know that he was Gossip Girl until the moment they shot the scene where it’s revealed.
